Bonnie Marie Goodman passed away at the Chadron Community Hospital on Mar. 20, 2025 at age 96.
Bonnie was born on June 29, 1928. She was one of five children born to Olin and Elsie Manchester. She spent her childhood in the Deadhorse Community West of Chadron. Later the family moved into Chadron. Soon after, Bonnie started working at Model Laundry. Later she worked at the Campus Shop near Chadron State College. There she met her future husband, Lyle Goodman who delivered ice cream for Goodman’s Produce to the shop. They were married on Oct. 5, 1949 at her parent’s home on Mears Street. Bonnie and Lyle then moved to his parent’s farm Northwest of Chadron. Bonnie stayed with Ernest and Edith Goodman while Lyle was in the Service. When Lyle returned, he built a home for them a short distance from his parent’s house, where they raised three children. Elaine, Bruce and Kay.
Bonnie enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and crocheting. Many of her family and friends enjoyed doilies and other items she made.
Preceding her in death were her parents and siblings; Lawrence, Wayne, and Agnes. Her husband Lyle and his parents.
Bonnie leaves behind her children, Elaine Wood and Roger, Bruce Goodman, Kay and Bryan Mitchell. Grandchildren: Kasey and Shayla. Great Grandchildren: Riley and Dempsey.
Her sister, Mary Lou Schommer, nieces and nephews.
