Bill Kennedy

William Lee Kennedy, 81, of Martin, SD, died Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Bennett County Nursing Home. Bill was born January 19, 1935, in Beresford, SD, to Raymond and Alice Kennedy. He graduated from Beresford High School. Bill enlisted with the US Air Force in 1959 at Biloxi MS and was honorably discharged April 4, 1963. He worked at Ford Credit for 16 years and was also a salesman at Bair Ford. In 1981 he purchased and operated the Gas-n-Git until 2001. Bill is survived by his children; Jennifer (Brian) Thoreson of Columbia, IL, Greg (Kathy) Kennedy of Bennett, CO, Jolene (Scott) Robinson of Martin, SD, Janelle (Lyle, who is deceased) Haynes of Martin, SD, Jillian (Kyle) Turnwall of Castle Pines, CO and Kyle Kennedy of Anchorage, AK, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Bill's brothers Dale, Glenn, Jim and sister Alice Joyce preceded him in death. Funeral services for William and his wife Helen Kennedy will be held Monday February 22, 2016, 10:00 AM, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, in Longvalley, SD. Burial with Military Honors will be held in the Longvalley Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Our Saviors Lutheran Church or to CHART and donations may be sent in care of Bennet County Funeral Service, PO Box 65, Martin, SD 57551.
