Barbara Kubo

Funeral services for Barbara Lee Kubo, age 70 of Chadron, will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel with Pastor Russ Seger officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery.

Barb passed away on October 18, 2017 at home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Barb was born on June 11, 1947 to Lee William (Bill) Brown Jr. and Isabelle Harrison Brown.

Barb graduated from Chadron High School in 1965 and upon graduation she married Bruce Van Vleet. To this union were born Michelle and Stefani. Barb, Bruce, Michelle and Stefani travelled and lived all over the globe following Bruce during his Naval career.

In 1980 Barb, Michelle and Stefani returned to live in Chadron, where Barb met the love of her life, Stephen Kubo. Barb and Steve were united in marriage on May 29, 1982 and to this union were born Amy and Heidi.

Barb loved life and was a friend to anyone and everyone she came in contact with. She loved following all of her children and grandchildren in all of their sports. There was never a louder voice in the crowd cheering her children and grandchildren on.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Isabelle Brown, her twin brother and sister Jerry and Julie Brown, and numerous aunts and uncles.

Barb is survived by her husband of 35 years, Steve Kubo; daughters Michelle (Corby) Wilson, Stefani Van Vleet (Charith Kapukotuwa), Amy (Ryan) Raymer all of Chadron and Heidi (James) Tomek of Rapid City, SD; sisters Karen (Gary) Larson of Scottsbluff, NE and Kristy Hollenbeck of Estelline, SD; and grandchildren, Travis Reeves (Kristina Harter), Wade Reeves (Lela Nomura), Jennifer Van Vleet, Hailey and Talan Raymer and Jasmine and Mariah Tomek as well as numerous others that called Barb Mom or G-Ma throughout the years.

The family suggests memorials to Circle of Light or CSC Football.
