Arthur "Arty" Vinton

November 4, 1961 — December 18, 2024

Arthur (Arty) Vinton Arty Vinton, age 63, of Gordon passed away Wednesday December 18th, 2024 at Monument Health in Rapid City SD. Arty was born on November 4th, 1961 in Rushville NE to Joe and Martha Vinton. Arty attended elementary school in Eli, Merriman and Gordon. He attended Gordon High school where he was very active in FFA. He graduated from Gordon in 1980.Arty married Dee Marrs on June 4th 1983 and had 4 girls, Alyssa, Lisa, Michelle and Jaimee. Arty wore many hats in his life. Cattleman, welder, fabricator and finally ended up at Scott Manufacturing where he was the happiest. Arty had many friends. He loved his family dearly- especially his grandkids. He was a hard worker and taught his family what having a good work ethic means. He always put 200% effort in everything he did. He believed in doing everything right the first time. A crooked fence was unacceptable. He was stubborn and wanted everyone to think he was tough but we all know how kind and generous he was. He always helped his neighbors when he could. He taught us all of the good things about family, love and second chances. If you threw away your second chance, you might not have got another one. He will be missed so much. Survivors include his wife Dee, his kids Alyssa & Nick, Lisa, Michelle, Jaimee & Barry. Grandchildren Liam, Adriana, Avery, Jack, Dean, Logan & Owen. Siblings Joe (Marsha), Mary (Brad), Fred (Linda), Theresa, Mike, Kathy (Verlin), Helen (Brunza), Chris (Darla), Paul (Sheila) and sister-in-law deAlva. Dee’s brothers Terry (Sherrie), Bill (Kathy), Don (Sandy), special friend Jimmy Cushing, Numerous nieces, nephews, aunt Gwen Otte, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Judy, brother Ed, brothers -in-law Steve and Gary, sister-in-law Linda, nieces Annie and Rachel. We would like to thank Gordon Memorial Staff including Warren Shaulis and Rachael Huether for their amazing care and getting Arty stable enough to fly to Rapid City. The MICU staff at Monument Health in Rapid City for all of the care they provided at the end of Arty’s life. We will never forget the compassion you showed our family and we appreciate you so much. Arty’s wishes were to be cremated with ashes spread in a special place by his family and a BBQ with family and friends at a later date in the summer. In lieu of Flowers, please send donations to Gordon Volunteer Rescue Squad in Arty’s name.Hide message history
