Amy Beth (Paulson) Moore

Amy Beth (Paulson) Moore was born on 15 May 1941, in Powers Lake, North Dakota, to her father, John Lawrence Paulson (40), and her mother, Flossie Mary (Frazier) Paulson (36). She was the youngest of seven children.

Amy lived in Flaxton, North Dakota, until she married Darrel Walter Woodbeck in Flaxton, North Dakota, on 2 August 1957. Amy and Darrel moved around a bit, living in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, as well as several other towns in North Dakota and South Dakota, finally settling in Lead, South Dakota in 1964. Amy and Darrel had three sons, Steve, Doug, and Mike, born in 1958, 1959, and 1960 respectively.

After her divorce from Darrel in 1970, Amy married Bill Nichols from Lead, South Dakota, which soon ended in divorce. Then, in 1973, Amy moved to Gordon, Nebraska, where she met Robert “Bob” Leroy Moore. Amy started working at the Nebraska Beef plant, then went to work at the Western Café at the time, and Bob was working for the Magowan Feed Mill. Bob pursued Amy, and they eventually got married in Rapid City, South Dakota on 20 December 1974. They have lived in Gordon ever since.

Amy was a long-time member of St. Marks Episcopal Church. In 2015 she switched and began to go to the Bible Baptist Church. She changed because she felt the Bible Baptist Church in Gordon was a true bible teaching church.

During her years in Gordon, Amy made a lot of friends and acquaintances. She worked for the Head Start program for a while. At one point, Amy had a fabric shop on Main Street, where she taught many local women to quilt and sew. She was a very avid seamstress, having hand-made many quilts and wall hangings. She was quite enthusiastic about entering her work in the local Sheridan County Fair and won many ribbons for her work. She was also very civically minded, bringing many issues to the City Council on occasion. Amy also worked at the Gordon Nursing Home for quite a few years as the Social Services Coordinator for the residents. She has had quite a fondness for the home as a result of her work there. Anyone who knew Amy well knew that she could be a force to be reckoned with. However, she usually had what she thought was the “best interest” at heart.

Amy and Bob lived in Keller’s Trailer Court for a while, when first married. Then they moved to the farm just north of Gordon, owned by Ross Magowan. They lived there until around 1983, when they bought their home at 508 N. Hickory Street, in Gordon. Amy lived in their home until around 2018, when she went into the Gordon Countryside Care Nursing Home, where she resided until her death.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, John and Flossie Paulson, her brothers Neal and Jack, her sisters, Betty and Flossie “Babe”, and her son, Steve. She is survived by her husband, Bob Moore, her brothers Norman Paulson and Wayne Paulson, her sons Doug and Mike, her stepson Burdette Moore, Grandchildren: Joshua Woodbeck, Christopher Woodbeck, Stephanie (Woodbeck) Johnson, Aaron Woodbeck (Steve’s children); Darrel Woodbeck, Dan Garrett, Maggie Squires (Doug’s son and stepchildren); Scott Woodbeck and Sean Woodbeck (Mike’s sons); and many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Amy died on 1 August 2022, in Gordon, Nebraska, at the age of 81. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 5, 2022, 10:00 am at the Bible Baptist Church in Gordon, Nebraska.
