Allen Ray Robbins, 70, of Kersey, CO, passed away Monday, July 27, 2015, near Ray, ND. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 2, at 2 p.m., at the Post 240 American Legion in Martin, SD, Rev. Alvin Trucano officiating. Allen was a past commander of Post 240. Burial will be at the Martin Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Butler, Junior Van Hoesen, James Lowder, Jeremy Everett, Taylor Gardner, and Tom Riggins. Honorary pallbearers are his three brothers Terry (Homer), Randy, and Kenny Robbins and his nephews. Allen was born on February 21, 1945, in Valentine, Neb. He attended school in Long Valley, SD. As a young boy, he worked on the family ranch. He entered the US Army on May 24, 1965. He was honorably discharged from the US Army on May 23, 1969. He was an armor crewman in the Army and served in Germany. He obtained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was married to Sharon Babby in Belle Fourche on October 6, 1969 to 1985. He was a well driller from the early 1970s until his retirement in 2012. He married Pat Werden on Sept. 28, 1985 to 1999. He recently drove truck in the North Dakota oil fields. He was an active member of the Northern Colorado Cowboy Church in Lucerne, CO. Allen enjoyed outdoor activities especially hunting and fishing. He was a generous and caring man who could be counted on by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister Angela and brother Billy; parents Edwin (Slug) L. Robbins and Wilma L. (Klingaman) Robbins; grandparents Bert and Josie Klingaman and Oscar and Bernice Robbins, and four nephews. Survivors include his daughters Angela, Lynette and son Wayland and their spouses; step-children Raymond, Caroline, Robert, and Bill; 8 sisters and 3 brothers; 9 granddaughters, 3 grandsons and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be sent to Post 240 American Legion in Martin, SD. Bennett County Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
