Memorial Services for Leona Wyatt of Chadron, Nebraska will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Chadron, Nebraska.

Burial will be held at a later date at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, South Dakota.

Leona Mae Wyatt died May 09, 2021 in Chadron, Ne. She was born October 31,1935 in Belle Fourche, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents Josephine & George Noyce and sister Nelly. She is survived by her husband David Wyatt and daughter Lee Ann Wyatt both of Chadron, NE and brother Larry Noyce and sister in law Ginger Noyce both of Tucson, AR. She has several nephews whom she loved. After graduation Leona worked at the ASCS office in Belle Fourche and later, after moving to Edgemont, SD worked in Igloo, SD at the Army Depot. The Army Depot closed June 30, 1967 and later that year Leona accepted a position with the US Forest Service and moved to Chadron, NE with her only child, Lee Ann. Leona loved her position with the Forest Service and loved her co-workers who became important life long friends to her. She worked at the Forest Service until her Retirement. On New Years Eve,1971 Leona had her first date with Dave Wyatt who became the “Love of her Life” and they married on June 20, 1974, spending the next 47 years together. Leona loved to laugh and made so many people smile with her friendly personality and was commonly known as “Red” because of her beautiful long red hair. She was a fabulous cook and was known to spread lots of love to people with her infamous Cinnamon Rolls!! She enjoyed her home out in the country and summertime was her favorite, working endless hours in her yard, planting her flower and vegetable gardens. Leona had a love for music and was a beautiful pianist and during her younger years had been a member of a band who played lots of venues in South Dakota. Leona was a master seamstress and was known to start sewing a new outfit in the evening and would wear it to work the next day!! She always looked like a million dollars and was quite the fashionista with her clothing and jewelry. Leona had a passion for animals and usually had several pets at one time and was known to rescue and help animals in need of a home. Leona was a devoted Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister & Friend. She was very Loved and will be missed dearly by us all.
